A dentist is a doctor who identifies, treats, and prevents diseases related to the oral cavity: teeth, gums, and salivary glands. It is a highly sought-after profession in today’s world

A dentist is a highly sought-after professional. At home he is often referred to as a dentist or dentist, which is not quite correct. Every day, the dentist sees dozens of patients with different complaints, from inflamed gums to the most severe forms of dental caries. Teeth are a sensitive organ, an element of the jaw system that is constantly subjected to intensive impact (eating) and requires careful care. Dentists prevent diseases of the mouth and treat teeth that are on the verge of destruction: fillings are placed, teeth are extracted and replaced with prostheses. Often people visit dentists for aesthetic reasons: to have a comprehensive dental cleaning, correct a patient’s teeth bite or whiten enamel.

A dentist is a doctor who identifies, treats and prevents diseases related to the teeth, mouth, and jaw. During treatment, the dentist follows generally recognized medical rules and uses established, years-tested methods and techniques of treatment that are outlined in educational and practical literature. Dentists must have an advanced medical degree in either practical or theoretical dentistry. However, surgeons who specialize in a related field are permitted to work in dentistry.

A dentist is involved in:

  • Diagnosis of diseases of the oral cavity, injuries, deformities (with the help of X-rays, saliva tests, studying the anamnesis, medical history),
  • Disease prevention (fluoridation, periodontal therapy)
  • Surgery (tooth extraction, biopsy), including the use of anesthesia;
  • prescription of drugs that relieve pain and irritation in the oral cavity;
  • Restorative work: placement of implants, dentures, crowns;
  • helping diagnose systemic diseases that affect your teeth and mouth (for example, diagnosing diabetes);
  • Other oral health care;
  • Educating patients and family members about hygiene and nutrition.

The dentist interacts with hygienists, paramedics, other physicians and support staff at the dental clinic. The dentist has the responsibility for quality patient care on his or her shoulders. Each patient has a different request, and the dentist develops individualized treatment strategies after examinations.

Visiting the dentist is not a one-time affair. The strategy involves at least two appointments. At the first, the patient’s medical history is gathered, an oral examination is performed, x-rays are taken, and tests are taken (if necessary). Then a diagnosis is made. At the second meeting, the doctor talks with the patient, suggesting sound treatment options.
