National Sun Yat-sen University was established in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in 1980, named in honor of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the founding father of the Republic of China. With the dedicated efforts of faculty, staff, and students, NSYSU has quickly developed into one of the top universities in Taiwan. Presently, the University is consisted of six colleges, including Liberal Arts, Science, Engineering, Management, Marine Sciences, and Social Sciences, and offers 19 bachelor’s, 35 master’s and 27 doctoral programs. There are currently near ten thousand students enrolled and more than 450 full-time faculty members. University achievements2002: NSYSU was appraised one of the top 7 research-intensive universities in Taiwan by the Ministry of Education. 2003: NSYSU, NTU, NCCU, and NCKU were rated as the Best College of Management. 2004: General Education Center was ranked as the Best General Education Program among the top 7 research-intensive universities. 2004-5: College of Management received AACSB accreditation and became the first AACSB accredited university in Taiwan 2005: College of Engineering was accredited by IEET (Washington Accord) 2006: NSYSU received the first stage grant (2 years) of the “Aim for the Top University Plan” from the Ministry of Education. 2007: EMBA program was ranked No. 1 in Taiwan and No. 43 in the world by Financial Times. 2008: NSYSU received the second stage grant (3 years) of the “Aim for the Top University Plan” from the Ministry of Education. Taiwan Scholarship: the Scholarship Program is provided by Taiwan government. The aim of this program is to encourage outstanding international students to undertake degree programs in Taiwan. Democratic Pacific Union (DPU) Graduate Scholarship Program: the program is to recruit distinguished students from DPU member states to attend master or doctoral programs in Taiwan. Taiwan ICDF scholarship program: the program is provided by Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund, only grants full scholarships to applicants from nations maintaining diplomatic ties with Taiwan.
