About Nankai University

A key multidisciplinary and research-oriented university, Nankai University is directly under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, Located in Tianjin on the border of the sea of Bohai, Nankai Univeristy is the alma mater of our beloved late Premier Zhou Enlai. Nankai University was founded in 1919 and is considered one of the most comprehensive universities with the widest range of disciplines, and it features a balance between the Humanities and the Sciences. The University has 22 academic colleges together with the Graduate School, China APEC Institute, School for Continuing Education, Advanced Vocational School, Modern Distance Education School and Binhai College (independently financed). Nankai University has a well-balanced faculty team in terms of both experience and specialties. Among the 1,773 faculties there are 548 Doctoral supervisors, 642 professors and 667 associate professors, 15 academicians of Chinese Academy of Science and Chinese Academy of Engineering as well as 4 academicians of The 3rd World Academy of Science. Nankai University has a full-fledged education system for undergraduates, postgraduates on master’s and doctoral programs and post-doctoral researchers., There are currently 21,942 students enrolled at the University, comprising 12,420 undergraduate students, 6,416 master’s candidates, 3,106 doctoral candidates, 1,070 foreign students, 6,476 part-time adult students and 7,570 students under-taking the distance education program.
