City University London, traces its origins back to 1894 and became a full university in 1966. It is a fully recognised and accredited institution of higher education in the UK education system. The University ("City"), is situated close to the City of London, on the edge of the financial district, and is also a short bus ride from the theatres and shops of the West End.

The University offers undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses in business, computing, engineering and mathematics, journalism, law, music, social sciences (economics, politics, psychology, sociology and media studies) and health sciences (nursing & midwifery, optometry, radiography, speech therapy).

City has close contacts with leading professional institutions and businesses worldwide, and more than two thirds of its courses are recognized by relevant professional bodies. Many courses include an optional internship with leading international companies such as Microsoft and Rolls Royce. City is known as "the University for business and the professions" and the links with industry ensure a high ranking in official surveys of graduate employability.

City has 13000 students with a third coming from 157 different countries across the world. There are a number of scholarships available to international students which are awarded on the basis of academic merit. Students reflect very positively on their experience at City in a number of ways; the business school, for example, is ranked by the National Student Survey of 2006 as number one in London for student satisfaction.

The University recognizes many international qualifications and advice is given on the policy regarding any education system to students before they make a formal application. Undergraduate applications should be made through UCAS, the University and Colleges Admissions Service. Postgraduate applications can be made directly to the University through our website.

First year students are guaranteed a place in University housing if they meet application deadlines. All housing is no further than 5 minutes walk from the University, and offers self catering facilities and telephone and internet connections in each room.

If you have any questions about the suitability of your qualifications, studying at City or making a visit then please contact the International Office.
