Established in 1979, MIP is now recognised as one of the most prestigious post-graduate management training schools in all business and public administration-oriented areas.

MIP, with the Department of Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering has been part of the Politecnico di Milano School of Management since 2003.

The Politecnico di Milano School of Management includes all the research and training activities in the field of economics, management and industrial engineering.

MIP has been an institutional member of EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development) since 2001.

In June 2007, the School of Management, received EQUIS accreditation, joining the circuit of the 110 prestigious business schools internationally recognised by EFMD. In December 2009, the Financial Times for the first time has ranked the School of Management among the best European Business Schools. Today the School is the only Italian School in the Financial Times table with three Master programs: Executive MBA; Full-time MBA; Master of Science in Management Engineering. The Executive MBA is the one and only Italian EMBA to be ranked, and the Master of Science is the only Italian Master of Science degree listed in the ranking.

One of the most important strengths of MIP is that it is an integral part of Politecnico di Milano, and from the Politecnico it has inherited the idea of the comprehension of technology as an essential tool to create, innovate and run a business.

MIP is structured as a Consortium where many national institutions and some of the leading private and public industrial groups work together with Politecnico di Milano.

The MIP Politecnico di Milano School of Management and The Chapman Graduate School of Business at Florida International University (FIU) had signed an agreement in 2008 offering dual degree program in Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of International Business (MIB).
