CRACOW UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY (CUT) was established in 1945 (originating from the Academy of Mining and Metallurgy), to become an independent entity in 1954. On its 30th anniversary Cracow University of Technology took as its patron Tadeusz Kosciuszko, who was a hero of Polish and American nations, a politician but also an outstanding engineer. The university is accredited by the Polish Ministry of National Education and it occupies top positions in national rankings. Cracow University of Technology employs almost 1200 academic teachers including nearly 230 professors and associate professors. The main campus of CUT is situated in the centre of Krakow. The university has been educating engineers for over 60 years. CUT offers studies at seven faculties: Faculty of Architecture, Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Applied Computer Science. The Faculty of Architecture, accredited by the Royal Institute of British Architects, is one of the most prominent faculties of this kind in Poland. The Cracow University of Technology signed 55 bilateral agreements and 142 Erasmus agreements that allow its students to experience studies abroad not only in countries of the European Union but also in the USA, Canada, Mexico and places as distant as Australia, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore or South Korea. International students are very welcome to our university. They can either study at one of 13 Master of Science programmes or they can choose from more than 130 single courses (non degree students) taught in English. Each year a group of students from the USA, Canada and Australia takes opportunity to enrol for the unique Urban Design International Programme offered in English by the Faculty of Architecture of the Cracow University of Technology. Moreover, a numerous students take English taught preparatory courses for architectural or technical studies connected with an intensive Polish language course at the International Educational Centre of the Cracow University of Technology. The Centre also offers 2-3 weeks courses of Polish language and culture several times a year for international students who want to learn more about Poland before they commit themselves to undergraduate or graduate studies in the heart of Europe. Cracow University of Technology also cares for graduates. Careers Service has been operating here for over 10 years monitoring employers’ requirements as well as first job of university alumni. In 2006 – six months after graduation 88.3% of them were employed or continued education (of which 6% established their own company and 3.5% continued education). These are very good indicators convincing future candidates to choose this challenging but rewarding educational path. In 2008 our university was rated by "Newsweek Poland" as the best university in Poland and our alumni find job easily due to their high qualifications.        |
