Angelika, born in 1983, is a Global Brand Communication intern at adidas AG. Five of the six months of my internship at adidas have now passed and I’ll soon be returning to university with plenty of new insights. I study business studies, focussing on marketing, personnel & organisation and French, at the University of Würzburg. I wanted to gain some practical experience through an internship before finishing my studies. As I love sports, play volleyball and dance, I applied to adidas AG. I can identify very well with the company values and find the brand’s presence in top-level sport very exciting. That’s why adidas was my first choice. I am now working for adidas women and tennis in the Global Brand Communication department, which is responsible for the implementation of the brand concept in these two areas. In the beginning I wasn’t really sure what tasks I would be expected to carry out, but after a short period of time I was brought in to assist with current projects. One of my most exciting duties is helping to organize photo shoots for various campaigns. That means that I work together with many people who are involved internally, such as the Business Units and Sports Marketing, as well as external agencies. You’d scarcely believe how many details have to be worked out and how many processes need to be coordinated in order to implement a campaign in the best possible way. The results of the shoots are used online, in retail, print advertising, PR and for many other purposes. What I find particularly impressive is being part of a complex international company and seeing how big projects are planned and carried out from start to finish. The internationality of the employees at adidas is also very interesting, and it is common to use English every day. It’s really impressive when you think that here in Herzogenaurach – in the heart of Germany – there are people working from over 50 countries. My desire to work for adidas later has increased during my internship. adidas offers interns the chance to apply for ReBound – an intern link programme - in order to stay in close contact with the company and colleagues. What’s more, I’d also like to write my dissertation at adidas. I’ll be discussing possible topics and the details with my intern mentor shortly. Coming back to the company, for example as an adidas Marketing trainee, is my dream and I hope that I’m getting closer to this, step by step.
