Mannheim, University of Mannheim, Business School
The Business School of the University of Mannheim was founded in 1969 and traces its beginnings directly back to the department of economic and social sciences which was a part of Mannheim's College of Trade.
Today, with 26 fully ordained professors, more than 100 additional faculty members, and about 4400 students, the Business School of the University of Mannheim is one of the largest and most renowned business faculties in Europe.
Research and Teaching at the highest international level, consistent quality management, international focus and distinctive practical orientation constitute the central points of the “Mannheim Concept”.
In the Fall-/Wintersemester of 2006/2007, the studies of business administration were reorganized into the international Bachelor’s/ Master’s system. Since then, every year about 400 students start their enrolment in one of the degree programs. They are completed with the academic degree “Bachelor of Science” and prepare the students effectively for the challenges of the business world or a consecutive Master’s degree program. These Master’s degree programs will be offered to students at the University of Mannheim from 2009 onwards, as soon as the first Bachelor students have completed their studies.
Rankings of News and Business magazines constantly list the Business School of the University of Mannheim at the top position. The result is especially clear if the Rankings include interviews with HR managers and business professors. To them, Mannheim has been the indisputable national Number One for years. As the first and so far only German institution, the Business School of the University of Mannheim is accredited by AACSB International, Association of MBAs (AMBA) and efmd (EQUIS), which are the three leading unions of educational institutions in business worldwide.
New Courses of Study with the Highest Standards of Quality
In the course of the so-called “Bologna Process” all German institutes of higher education are transforming their courses of study into the established, international Bachelor/Masters system by the year 2010.
The bachelor program's satisfy the highest standards of quality and prepare students for the challenging world of work or a Master. Currently, the Business School of the University of Mannheim offers three different Bachelor degrees.
A successful future through flexibility – high subject-specific specialization or broad academic studies
In the course of the so-called ‘Bologna Process’, all German universities reorganize their traditional courses of study to fit the international Bachelor/Master system before 2010. After the Bachelor of Business Studies has been introduced in the autumn term 2006/07, the consecutive Master study course will be introduced in the autumn of 2009.
The two new Master's will be called ‘Mannheim Master in Management’ (MMM) and Master in Information Systems. Graduates will hold the academic degree ‘Master of Science’ (M.Sc.). Hereby, the university strives to position the new Master study course distinctively on the education market.
The information for the Master's programs will be available in the end of 2008.
