The primary focus of the Histology department is to provide histological target validation in research projects. Projects in the Biopharmaceuticals Research Unit aim at the identification and early development of novel therapeutics for treatment of autoimmune and hemostatic disorders, e.g. rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, inflammatory bowel disorders and hemophilia.

The starting date is preferably 1 March 2012, and the duration of the position is 10 months, i.e. until the end of December 2012.


Challenges
As research scientist in the department of Histology you will be part of a team of scientists and technicians with considerable experience in histological methods. You will participate in inflammation research projects and interact with research colleagues globally. In the cross-functional research project groups you will be responsible for analysis of the expression of potential drug-targets in relevant disease tissues. You are expected to bring science driven innovation to the research area, and establish histological techniques for target identification and validation. Excellent communication skills are required for oral presentations and preparation of written reports both internally and externally, including publication in high-ranking scientific journals.

Furthermore, you are expected to achieve business goals, share learnings, knowledge and skills and promote cross-functional teamwork. The job function includes supervision and training of technical staff.


Qualifications
Strong scientific skills, corresponding to PhD in industry or academia, are required. Prior research in the area of immunology and inflammation involving histological methods such as immunohistochemistry or in situ hybridization is highly preferred. You are prepared to work within Novo Nordisk established policies and procedures and are open-minded, flexible and enthusiastic towards working in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
